metal alarm clock - due season

Many of us are familiar with Galatians 6:7-9 as it is a very poignant scripture in the New Testament.

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.  Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.  Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

I want to talk about that  point  in our walk where we may become weary.  The point where we are tired of doing good and not getting anything in return for it. Our harvest keeps coming up dry and its getting harder and harder to not say “it’s quitting time“. It is totally natural to feel this way. For instance, if you are constantly going above and beyond at work and your boss never recognizes you  for your effort with at least a “thank you for your hard work” recognition or reward, you will eventually become weary and let your work ethic decline because you are not getting recognized for it anyway. But God is not like man. He will reward you for your effort.

In verse 7 it starts off by saying that we should not be deceived or led to believe a lie; God can not be mocked or  be made a fool of!  He’s not having it! Satan is busy deceiving us every chance he can get to make us doubt and question God and His faithfulness in our lives. The enemy puts ridiculous things like man-made societal deadlines in our heads and makes us believe that God operates when and how we tell Him to and if things do not happen when we want them then the end result is God is not a faithful God. That, my friends, is deception in its purest form!

Whatever you do for or against Christ will come back to you when the harvest is READY. In due time. In due season.  The dictionary defines the word DUE as something that is:

owed back at the proper, fitting, and rightful time.

Only God in His infinite wisdom knows when that time is. The world can’t tell you, your friends can’t tell you, not even your family can tell you when your due season is–only God.

It is important to understand that God sees you doing what is right. He sees you obeying, He sees you serving, and He sees you doing good. He just asks that you don’t give up on Him. He is preparing, teaching, developing, and molding you for that blessing you have been praying for entails. He wants to equip you for your season. He has not forgotten about you.

Dear God, Please help us to remember what you said in your word. Help us to remember that you will not be mocked. You will not be made to look like a fool or an unfaithful or  an unjust God. Help us to remember that we will receive our promise when the proper, fitting, and rightful time comes. Lord, only you know when that time is. Meanwhile, please continue to develop us as you prepare us to receive what you have for us. Help us to continue to do what is right and to not give up because we know our promise is on the way.
