The best advice I could give you comes from part of the scriptures that truly impacted my life and brought me closer to God.  This part of scripture is when Jesus was teaching about worry and how worrying does not add a single day to our life. But the scripture that stood and still stays with me is Matthew 6:33.

Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well

That scripture is so powerful because it tells us that whatever it is we are seeking to have, to become, or to develop will be given to us if we seek God and his Kingdom FIRST. What does God mean when he refers to his Kingdom and what  should we seek from Him?

Everyday we should seek to be in the presence of God through prayer, worship, fasting and meditating. Prayer is the most important conversation of our day. It is how we connect with God. We must be intentional about spending time with God. We must seek Him first before we begin our day and commune with Him throughout the day as well.

We have to study – not just read – His Word! That means highlight, circle, underline, take notes, look up references, and journal about key scriptures. That is how we begin to apply the Bible to our lives. No shade to all of those self-help books that these celebrities are publishing every month, but EVERYTHING we need to know to be a complete success in this life is in the WORD OF GOD. It is our tool, it is our guide, and it is our weapon against the enemy. How will you declare your blessing in your life, know your worth, or know that you already have the victory if you are not seeking Him in His Word?

What is God telling you to do? Everyone has a daily assignment from God.  That is why He woke you up this morning and every morning prior to this one. However, you must seek Him in order to to know what that assignment is. Maybe He wants you to call an old friend to check on them. Maybe He wants you to give food to a homeless person. Maybe He wants you to help your spouse in some way that you normally don’t. Whatever it is we must first seek Him for that instruction.

This one goes a little deeper that your daily assignment. When Matthew 6:33 says “and EVERYTHING will be added to you” that EVERYTHING points back to your God-given purpose in life. Isn’t that all what we want to know any way? Have you asked this question before… ?

God, What am I here on earth to do?

There is only one way to know what our purpose is and it is by seeking Him first in our lives. Also,  know that whatever your purpose is, it is not for you, but  for the benefit of others who need that blessing.

What ever situation you are facing right now,  I want to encourage you to seek God first regarding it and before you know it the answer will be given to you. The door will be opened. God is just good like that! That is how He operates because He said He would in His word.
