Count It All Joy …

Most believers and people in general will tell you prayer is key! Seeking God and petitioning Him about different areas in your life is definitely something I strongly recommend. However, many times, when we ask God for something whether tangible or intangible, in order to receive it we must go through a test that is hidden through some form of a trial.

For example, if you are praying and asking God for patience, you will probably go through a challenge or storm where you will have to endure  a season longer that you thought you could handle.

Maybe you are praying for a spouse, but God keeps allowing these “random” guys to keep approaching you to test whether you are willing to wait for the man He has for you or you just want a man because you are tired of being lonely.

You may have asked God to strengthen your faith  because you feel like you lack in that area and then all of a sudden you are forced to just trust  God  in a certain situation because what you are currently going through, no one, not even you can fix so you have no choice but to give it to God.

Whatever it may be, God has a way of challenging you in order to develop you. Nothing worth having is easy and God does not allow His children to be silver spoon fed.

The Bible says in James 1:2-4

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles [trials and challenges] come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.  For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.  So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

When I was growing up I hated to be challenged. While I was in grade school, my mother always had to force me to take Advanced and AP classes because if I had my way I would have just wanted to take the easy way through school. I didn’t want to have to study or have a lot of homework. Not understanding, that my mother just wanted to prepare me for what was coming up in future (college and the “real world”). The challenges I went through when I was younger were for my own good and betterment, so I would know how to study and set myself up to go to the college of my choice debt-free. But at the time I didn’t get it. I was upset that she was forcing me to do something I had no interest in, but the whole time it was because she cared. She just wanted me to be prepared.

That is the same thing our Heavenly Father does. He does not want us to not be prepared for the plans He has for us . If we are so busy running away from the challenges and tests that He has us go through, then we are ultimately running away from His will. He wants to perfect us to be able to use us for His perfect will, which is exceedingly and abundantly greater than we could ever think or imagine. How will He use us if we never go through anything worth testifying about? Understand that the more of an impact we want to have in the kingdom, the more things we have to endure.

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine”. – Isaiah 55:8 NLT

Also remember, no trial last for ever. God is with you every step of the way making sure you are developing at the right pace and time that He needs you to develop. You have gone through things before that you thought you would never be able to come out of.. but God… Once He feels like you have gotten and passed the test, the doors to your blessings will begin to open and you will see that the challenge wasn’t that bad after all. So never stop praising Him and continue to pray.. just be careful what you pray for because you just might get it. 😉
